Honouring the centenary of the death of one of the most beloved composers of opera, this special gala commences with a full concert version of Puccini's masterpiece Suor Angelica. Renowned international soprano Helena Dix assumes the title role of the tragic Angelica and is joined by renowned mezzo Deborah Humble as the Principessa along with a talented group of young artists as the various nuns.
The second half of this spectacular gala features popular highlights of Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Manon Lescaut and Turandot including Vissi D'arte, Un Bel di and Nessun Dorma. Some of Australia's best singers including Lee Abrahmsen, Christopher Hillier, Boyd Owen and Michael Lapina. The Melbourne Opera Chorus and Orchestra are conducted by Greg Hocking and Raymond Lawrence.
