Synopsis
Elsa, a trans woman born in the Peruvian Amazon, is deported from Paris to Lima after surviving a traumatic period in Pr*son. Back in Peru, she finds refuge with friends and tries to rebuild her life while carrying the wounds of her past.
When she meets Yena and Aymeric, a couple whose lives become unexpectedly intertwined with hers, Elsa is drawn into a relationship marked by desire, uncertainty and the possibility of a new beginning. As violence continues to threaten her, she must decide whether returning to Pucallpa can help her reconnect with herself, her roots and her future.
Written and directed by Santi Zegarra and starring Melissa Campos, Javiera Arnillas, Etza Reátegui Wong “La Uchulú,” Maxime Saint-Jean and Gabriela Pastor, Pucallpa la Europea opened the 22nd OutfestPerú Film Festival in 2025 and was selected for the Narrative Feature Competition at Cine Las Americas in Austin.
