About this Event

Join us for an interactive American Sign Language (ASL) tour of the exhibition , which explores Argentina’s capital as a creative laboratory where artists forged inventive visual languages in response to the city’s diverse population, rapid modernization, and complex political landscape. Fueled by the arrival of thousands of European artists, exiles, and refugees fleeing oppression on multiple fronts, during the 1930s and ’40s Buenos Aires became a hub for artistic experimentation and collaboration.

Anchored in the art of Grete Stern, Horacio Coppola, and their social circle, the exhibition—the first in the United States to examine this dynamic community—reveals how migration and cultural exchange gave rise to new forms of modernism.

The tour will be conducted in ASL with interpreters available.

This program is offered in collaboration with DEAF Inc. to celebrate Deaf culture and to promote accessibility to the arts. Learn more about their resources and advocacy here.

Free and open to the public. Please check in at the Welcome Desk when arriving for the tour. Parking is available in the East End Garage, and is free on weekends and daily after 5 pm.
