Public Talk - The Victorian Sex Trade with Carla Linford

Join us for our June public talk, when local historian, Carla Linford, will be exploring the Victorian Sex Trade. Described by the great and the good as a great social evil - the growth in prostitution in the Victorian era was closely bound up with the growth of urban society and often the only way that a woman who found herself widowed or abandoned could find a way to survive. Carla is an excellent speaker and her introduction to some our area's famous sex workers is sure to be entertaining as well as enlightening.
