About this Event
What helps people feel connected to their communities? And how can journalism better reflect and strengthen those connections?
Public Square is a visual reporting project led by Wisconsin Watch photojournalist Joe Timmerman that explores how people across Wisconsin build community, create belonging and navigate civic life.
Join Wisconsin Watch for a free, live outdoor exhibition and community conversation in Green Bay’s St. James Park. Large-format photography prints from the Public Square series will be displayed throughout the park alongside excerpts from reporting that provide context and insight into each story.
Timmerman will moderate a panel discussion featuring Green Bay residents highlighted in the project’s images. Panelists will discuss their work building community connections, what it means to create spaces of belonging and what it was like to participate in the project. A Q&A will follow.
The live in-person event will not be recorded. Attendees will receive a zine featuring print versions of Public Square stories. Images taken of attendees during the event may be published after the event.
