Public Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Training
Join Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties (CMHA-CEI) for a live virtual Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training conducted live on Zoom.
Please note: This training is 100% virtual and is not held in person. Participants will attend the entire instructor-led session live on Zoom.
QPR is an evidence-based suicide prevention training that teaches participants how to recognize th warning signs of a suicide crisis and respond by learning how to Question, Persuade, Refer someone to appropriate resources.
What You Will Learn:
During this interactive training, participants will learn how to:
- Recognize the warning signs of suicide.
- Understand risk and protective factors.
- Question someone who may be experiencing thoughts of suicide.
- Persuade them to seek help.
- Refer them to appropriate professional and community resources.
Training Details:
- Format: Live instructor-led training conducted online via Zoom (not in person)
- Duration: Approxiamtely 1.5 hours
- Cost: Free
- Coursework: No-pre-work or post-work is required.
- Certificate: Participants who successfully complete the training will receive a 1-year QPR Gatekeeper Certificate.
- Continuing Education: Certification may qualify for CEUs upon your employer's licensing board's approval.
Before the Training:
After registering through Eventbrite, you will receive a Zoom meeting invitation by email. Please accept the Zoom invitation upon receipt. Accepting the invitation confirms your participation and helps us accurately manage attendance. If you are unable to attend, please decline or cancel your registration as soon as possible so your seat can be made available to someone else on the waitlist.
There is no coursework rewuired before the training. We simply ask participants:
- Join the Zoom session a few minutes early
- Bring something to take notes for their personal reference
- Remain for the entire training to receive certification.
