“The opposite of ‘fiction’ is often said to be ‘fact’. As a result, it is easy to slip into thinking that stories have less connection with ‘truth’ than pure data does. The reality is that stories do convey truth but in a different way and it is important to pay close attention to the connection between story-telling and truth-telling in our complex contemporary world.”
