Let's explore the “butterfly effect”; the idea that minor actions can trigger vast, unpredictable chains of events across history, society, and personal life. Through stories from chaos theory, everyday experience, and pivotal historical moments, we’ll examine how small decisions and chance events can scale into world-shaping outcomes.

Our lecturer will tackle pivitol moments like Napoleon’s defeat at the Battle of Waterloo to global public health crisis and ecology (such as shifts in the mosquito populations), as we unpack this concept on a personal AND worldly scale.

From there, we expand outward to understand how interconnected systems amplify small changes in surprising ways.

This lecture blends science, storytelling, and reflection to challenge how we think about causality, control, and unpredictability in complex systems... it will show how life often hinges on details we barely notice.
