Introducing "Psychology on Tap," a new community series created by Aurora Counseling & Well-Being, the Shenandoah Valley’s leading trauma-informed counseling practice."Psychology on Tap" brings mental health conversations out of the therapy office and into real life through casual evenings at local breweries and cideries focused on emotional wellness, nervous systems, modern dating, and the fascinating psychology behind why humans do what we do.
Our first event will be hosted by Sage Bird on Thursday, June 11 from 6:00-7:30!
Our First Topic:
Why We Ignore Red Flags
(and why toxic relationships can sometimes feel addictive)
We’ll explore questions like:
• Why do smart people overlook obvious warning signs?
• Why can chaos feel like chemistry?
• Why do we fall in love with someone’s “potential”?
• How do people-pleasing, caretaker roles, and self-abandonment shape relationships?
• Why do our nervous systems sometimes mistake intensity for connection?
• Why do our friends see the red flags six months before we do?
• And why have so many of us said “I can fix them” with complete confidence? 😅
This is NOT group therapy and it is not an academic lecture. Think TED Talk meets happy hour, where real-world psychology meets good drinks and fascinating conversations about relationships and human behavior in a way that feels approachable and insightful.
Schedule:
5:45–6:00 PM — Arrival, Drinks, & Settling in
6:00–7:00 PM — Psychology on Tap Conversation
7:00–7:15 PM — Audience Q&A
7:15–7:30 PM — Closing Comments + Meet the Experts
Anonymous questions will be welcomed because let’s be honest… some of the best questions are the ones we don’t necessarily want to say out loud (and that's OK!).
So come join us at Sage Bird, grab a happy hour drink or a good appetizer, and settle in for an evening of fascinating conversation about relationships, psychology, and the beautifully complicated reality of being human.
Whether you are single, dating, married, healing, overthinking, emotionally exhausted, or simply fascinated by human behavior, we’d love to have you there!
