About this Event
While the psychiatric service system is lifesaving for many and at least helpful for others, it can also cause harm due to the narrow medical perspectives and paternalism that structure psychiatry today. No matter your experience with psychiatric services, your story deserves to be heard.
This social is intended to be a safe space to discuss our experiences with psychiatric services and learn from the history of psychiatric service user activism while also gauging interest from the community in developing projects or campaigns that address the needs of psychiatric service users/survivors. How do our experiences shape our lives? What needs to be different? How have people in the past advocated for better, and what can we do now?
This group, while a safe space, is NOT therapy and not intended to function as therapy. There will be community guidelines and best practices to limit triggers, but please check in with yourself before attending to ensure that you are in a good headspace to engage in this discussion productively.
MASKS ARE HEAVILY ENCOURAGED - SOME WILL BE PROVIDED
