What is the Pilates Suspension Method (PSM®)

The Pilates Suspension Method (PSM®) is a movement discipline that translates traditional, apparatus-based Pilates choreography—including classical Reformer, Cadillac, and Chair repertoire—directly onto portable suspension straps. Created by Rebecca Beckler, PSM maintains core Pilates principles such as centering, control, precision, breath, and fluid movement while utilizing bodyweight and gravity as dynamic resistance. By altering stance vector angles and base-of-support stability, participants can instantly scale exercises from gentle modifications to athletic, full-body challenges. The method delivers deep core activation, enhanced joint stability, and functional full-body integration, providing an accessible way to experience the benefits of studio apparatus work both in the studio and anywhere suspension straps can be anchored.

Who Can Attend & Workshop Prerequisites

This workshop is open to instructors, movement professionals, and experienced Pilates enthusiasts. To maintain a fluid, continuous flow without stopping the clock for basic apparatus troubleshooting, all participants must meet the following movement criteria:

  • Pilates Foundation: Prior experience practicing Pilates (Mat, Reformer, or apparatus) and familiarity with core concepts: centering, pelvic stability, spinal articulation, and breath integration.
  • Strong Suspension Proficiency: Solid experience using suspension trainers (such as TRX or PSM).
  • Independent Strap Management: You must be able to adjust strap lengths (short, mid-length, mid-calf) and transition between handles and foot cradles quickly and independently.
  • Biomechanics & Vector Awareness: Working knowledge of anchor points and body vector angles—understanding how foot placement toward or away from the anchor dynamically increases or decreases resistance.

Please Arrival at least 10 minutes before workshop begins, calibrate straps and set up your station.

What to Bring: Grip socks, personal water bottle, Printed illustrated manual pages.
