Psilocybin & Women's Health: A Fireside Chat (San Rafael, CA)

Schedule

Fri Apr 26 2024 at 06:30 pm to 09:00 pm

Location

Groundfloor | San Rafael, CA

Gwen Pelfini, LMHC, LPCC, NCC, PATP, in conversation with Jennifer Chesak, MSJ, author of The Psilocybin Handbook for Women.
About this Event

Pelfini, a psychedelic-assisted therapist, and Chesak, a science and medical journalist, will talk about the intersection of women’s health and psilocybin, psychedelic therapy, and more. After their conversation and audience Q&A, Chesak will sell and sign books, while Pelfini will field your questions about therapy.

This event is meant to destigmatize psychedelics for people assigned female at birth (though all are welcome!) and foster community, whether you’re plant-medicine curious or have done many journeys. The duo will blend emerging research with learnings from Indigenous wisdom, pulling from Indigenous wisdom experts that Chesak interviewed.

Pelfini, a psychedelic therapist and an adjunct professor, has made it her life’s work to help people connect with their own Inner Healing Intelligence and live a meaningful life by honoring wisdom of mind, body, and soul. Chesak, an adjunct as well, focuses much of her work on women’s health, hoping to encourage research advances that prioritize the female body, close gaps in care, and end medical gaslighting.

About the book:

If you're looking for mushroom mansplaining, you’ve come to the wrong book. The Psilocybin Handbook for Women is a resource for everyone, although it features information specific to those assigned female at birth—because psychedelics may have different effects and applications across the sexes.

Chesak’s informative guidebook is packed full of everything you need to know about psilocybin, including its history, potential medicinal and recreational benefits, the latest evidence-based research, how to microdose, and more.

You'll get the answers to some of your most pressing questions related to the health of people assigned female at birth:

  • Does psilocybin affect women differently?
  • Does it matter where I am in my cycle when I use psilocybin?
  • How does psilocybin impact the menstrual cycle?
  • Can psilocybin help with menopause symptoms, endometriosis, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, menstrual migraine, and more?
  • Will psilocybin boost my sex life?
  • Do hormones have an impact on the entourage effect?
  • What about pregnancy, breastfeeding, and parenting?
  • What about safety considerations?
  • And more!
