The Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale opens its season with a program that explores the power of sacred texts, reflection, and social connection.
The first half features three compelling settings of the Psalms: an unaccompanied interpretation of Psalms 69 and 71 by Allen Koepke, along with organ-accompanied settings of Psalm 148 by Gustav Holst and Psalm 47 by John Rutter.
The second half features Kyle Pederson’s A Vision Enfolding, a five-movement work inspired by themes of social justice, compassion, and hope. With spoken text by poet Shanelle Gabriel, the piece combines choral music with violin, trumpet, and drums to create a powerful and thought-provoking musical experience.
