About Radio Workshop

Radio Workshop trains youth across Africa to make radio and podcasts. We provide the tools and teach the skills. Youth bring us their creativity, local knowledge, and passion for tackling the issues that matter to them and their communities. They are the new generation of African journalists, thought leaders, storytellers, and advocates.

Founded in 2006 as the Children's Radio Foundation, we have trained over 5,000 youth reporters at more than 100 radio stations in 10 countries in Africa, reaching up to 9 million listeners weekly. Our podcast brings African youth stories to global audiences. Episodes of the Radio Workshop are distributed across podcast platforms and broadcast on radio station partners as free-to-use content.

About the Stoop

“The Stoop” podcast–– part of the Radiotopia podcast network from PRX– tells stories from across the Black Diaspora, digging into the stories about Blackness that are not always shared out in the open. Hosts Leila Day and Hana Baba start conversations about what it means to be Black and how we talk about Blackness. It’s an exploration of the joyful, the painful, and everything in between. Leila is African American, Hana is Sudanese American, and through their own stories, interviews, and field reporting, they dig into questions that are personal and cultural.

Now in their 8th season, The Stoop is multiple award winning- honored by The National Association of Black Journalists, the Society of Professional Journalists- Northern California, and was awarded best podcast by the Black Podcast Awards in 2020. It’s been featured on NPR, PRI, ABC, CNN, CBC, OkayAfrica, Spotify, Financial Times, and in 2020 The Stoop was named by the New York Times and Oprah Magazine as a podcast to listen to.
