Research has shown that when blueberry plants are not pruned or are pruned too lightly, they become less productive. Join Clallam County Master Gardeners Jeanette Stehr-Green and Audreen Williams to get the facts and learn how to properly prune blueberry bushes. Jeanette will describe the typical growth pattern of a blueberry bush and outline a systematic approach to pruning, as well as factors that affect blueberry pruning practices. Jeanette and Audreen will demonstrate pruning techniques on blueberry bushes at the 5th Street Community Garden (and again on Feb. 8th at Lazy J Tree Farm). They will also answer your questions about growing and pruning blueberries.
The pruning demonstrations will take place outside rain or shine; participants should dress appropriately and be prepared to stand for 30 minutes or more. Attendance is limited and registration is required for this free event. Because the two sessions cover the same material, please sign up for only one session.
