About this Event
PRS Composers’ Day is a fantastic opportunity for the PRS classical community to come together. Composers will gain valuable insights from music industry leaders, have the chance to network with their peers and learn vital skills, such as how to approach ensembles and earn royalties through PRS.
Join us for a free afternoon of talks led by Jackie Newbould (Creative Producer - artist development and projects) and Aaron Holloway-Nahum (CEO, Artistic Director and Conductor, Riot Ensemble), followed by a live performance of new works by Slide Action.

13:30–14:00 - Registration and welcome refreshments
14:00–14:30 - The practicalities of programming: Artistic Director Aaron Holloway-Nahum discusses how the practicalities of programming can impact composers. What gets played and why? What can composers do to get their music ‘out there’?
14:30–15:15 - Strategy: curating and creating a universe panel, featuring Jackie Newbould (Creative producer – artist development & projects), Aaron Holloway-Nahum (CEO, Artistic Director & Conductor, Riot Ensemble), Sarah Gee (Chief Executive – Spitalfields Music) and John Harris (CEO and Artistic Director, Red Note Ensemble and Festival Director, New Music Dublin)

15:30–16:15 - Finding a life for your work panel: featuring Jackie Newbould (Creative producer – artist development & projects), Aaron Holloway-Nahum (CEO, Artistic Director & Conductor, Riot Ensemble), Sarah Gee (Chief Executive – Spitalfields Music), John Harris (CEO and Artistic Director, Red Note Ensemble and Festival Director, New Music Dublin) and Josh Cirtina (Slide Action)
16:15–16:45 - Rights and Royalties: Daniel Lewis (Classical Relationship Manager, PRS for Music) discusses the different types of rights income composers are entitled to and shares advice on maximising your earnings from copyright
16:45–17:30 – Break: refreshments served in the Ropekeepers studio
17:30–18:30 – Slide Action in concert: the multi award-winning trombone quartet will perform some of their favourite contemporary works
18:30–19:30 – Networking drinks: come and meet Slide Action and network with senior industry leaders and your peers
