About this Event

Eastgate Jobcentre Plus, which is also a Health Model Office, (Disability Confident) is working to provide inclusive support for a diverse customer base, living across Leeds

As part of our programme of support, we are seeking to build effective relationships with Providers and offer Provision that will maximise our customers positive experiences in Training, Voluntary work opportunities, Work Experience, Employment and other work-focused activities.

Our aim is to support and encourage our diverse customers base, especially those with Health, Learning and Physical Disability conditions, into the working environment, to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations; and to raise awareness of the Disability Confident scheme and Access to Work.

On Wednesday 12th October 2022 Eastgate Job Centre will be hosting a Providers Fair for customers and Work Coaches. On the day of the Fair there will be a maximum of 12 Stalls, please note the Fair is free and there is no charge for any Fairs that take place at the Job Centres.

We would love to have you participate; as we all know Working Together is an excellent way to achieve positive outcomes.

About Disability Confident Scheme

Eastgate Job Centre works closely with various Health and Disability related organisations, including GP’s, NHS, Charities and Disability Peer-led organisations to support our customers with health or/and disability conditions.

Each Leeds Jobcentre has a designated Disability Employment Advisor (DEA) whose role it is to focus on supporting Work Coaches and Work Coach Team Leaders to develop their skills to work effectively with customers to understand the interaction between individuals, their health and disability and employment, to help them to provide more personalised support, tailored to each claimant’s individual needs.

They support customers who present with complex employment circumstances involving health and disability issues, to enable the individual to move towards or into sustainable employment opportunity or progress in work.

The Disability Confident scheme is about encouraging long-term behavioural change and making the business case for employing disabled people and ensuring that they have the opportunities to fulfil their potential.

By giving employers the tools and techniques to help them recruit and retain more disabled people, Disability Confident will be an important contributor towards the Government’s commitment to get 1 million more disabled people into work by 2027.

The scheme has 3 levels:

• Disability Confident Committed

• Disability Confident Employer

• Disability Confident Leader

Nationally over 20,000 organisations have already signed up with 657 of these being in the West Yorkshire area.
