of Vivaldi’s moving Stabat Mater.
About this Event

A Concerto is an exciting musical event for a virtuoso to show off their skills. When Corelli published his Concerti Grossi Op 6, he essentially invented a new musical form – the idea of contrasting a Trio Sonata texture of two violins and cello with the full orchestra. Both Handel and Vivaldi quickly followed suit, publishing concertos in this new genre. Led by Yale University faculty member, violinist Daniel Lee, Providence Baroque explores this delightful musical form in our opening concert, as well as showcasing rising countertenor Sam Higgins in a performance of Vivaldi’s moving Stabat Mater.

Daniel Lee “Fleet fingered, passionate… soulful performance..” — The New York Times

“Sam Higgin’s beautifully ethereal tone was heard at its loveliest” — Perterre Box

Seating is all general admission and is chosen by patrons as they enter the concert space.
