Protecting Your Money Online: Passwords, PINs and Scams
About this Event
Led by: Dr Ayesha Awan, Ulster University
Location: Room BC-05-302, Ulster University, Belfast Campus, York Street, Belfast, BT15 1AP
Is your password easy to guess, or do you use the same one across several accounts? Do you know how to recognise a suspicious message or phone call?
You are not alone, and these are exactly the kinds of habits that scammers try to exploit.
In this friendly, interactive session, you will explore how scammers use personal information, predictable passwords and social-engineering tactics to target people online.
You will work through realistic scam examples and learn simple steps for creating stronger account-security habits, protecting your personal information and responding safely when something does not seem right.
No financial or technical background is required. You will leave with a practical checklist that you can use straight away.
Open to students from Ulster University and Queen’s University Belfast, as well as members of the public who would like to feel more confident managing their money safely online.
Everyone is welcome.
