More than 3 million Americans were victims of financial scams last year, losing more than $16 billion. Join SHARP and the SF Mayor’s Office for Victims’ Rights for a presentation on scam awareness and prevention. Participants will learn how to recognize common scams, identify warning signs, protect their personal and financial information, and respond safely to suspicious calls, texts, emails, and online messages.
The presentation will also cover how to report scams and where to seek support if you or someone you know has been targeted. The forum will feature Nancy Tung, Chief of the Vulnerable Victims Unit at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, who supervises handling of hate crimes and elder abuse, including scams. An SFPD representative has also been invited.
