Protect Where We Play Beach Cleanup - Historic Virginia Key Beach Park
About this Event
Scientists estimate that 11 million metric tons of plastic enters our ocean every year on top of the estimated 200 million metric tons that currently circulate through our marine environments. These plastics not only threaten marine life but can also impact us. With 50% of our oxygen coming from the ocean, whether you live on the coast or hundreds of miles inland, the future of your favorite game, concert or event depends on a healthy, plastic-free ocean. Join Team Ocean and help us preserve and protect our ocean, and all the spaces we come together!
Ocean Conservancy’s Protect Where We Play Cleanup in Miami in partnership with GOAL’s sports and entertainment industry gathering of Sustainability Leaders will be on Wednesday, June 17th from 9:00am – 12:00pm. Join Ocean Conservancy, GOAL and the FIFA World Cup Miami Host Committee to remove debris from the beach before it reaches the ocean. Light breakfast, coffee, lunch and all supplies will be provided, including sunscreen and bug spray. We recommend all volunteers wear closed-toe shoes!
Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt (while supplies last).

Register for this free event on this page! A waiver will be required for all participants. If you are able, click the link below to sign the waiver ahead of the event. We will also have copies available onsite. Community service hours are also provided upon request.
Parking fees at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park will be waived for all volunteers. Please indicate to the parking attendant that you are there for a beach cleanup with Ocean Conservancy.
