Colorectal cancer screening is testing to look for cancer before symptoms start, which can help save lives. Regular screening can find colorectal cancer early when it’s small and might be easier to treat. There are several different screening options for colorectal cancer. One of those tests will be available at this screening:
Fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is used to find tiny amounts of blood in the stool. This can be a sign of cancer or large polyps. You take this test at home with a kit you get from the doctor’s office. The FIT test needs to be done every year.
Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men aside from skin cancer and is the second-leading cause of cancer death in men.
The American Urologic Association (AUA) recommends that men ages 50 to 69 undergo a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test every two years. You may be at risk for developing prostate cancer if:
· You are 50 years of age or older
· You are African American
· You have a first-degree relative who was diagnosed with prostate cancer
Only the PSA blood test will be offered, it will not include a DRE (digital rectal exam).
