About this Event
As part of “Prologue… and More,” an interdisciplinary program combining performance and workshops that explore personal history, memory, and legacy, Prologue PART III presents a biographical storytelling experience that blends dance, objects, music, and shadow puppetry. This live performance weaves together movement, shadow theater, text, and sound to create a layered and poetic theatrical language.
Inspired by the lived experiences of five first-generation Chinese American immigrants, it transforms personal histories into evocative visual narratives that reflect resilience, identity, and belonging. The performance is followed by a talkback, inviting audiences to engage in dialogue around cultural legacy, memory, and intergenerational connection.
** Two workshops follow: a biographical storytelling session using movement, interviews, and writing, and a shadow puppet–making workshop where participants transform their portraits into animated figures. Each workshop will be listed separately on Eventbrite.
** Free admission. RSVP your spot.
[This project is in collaboration with University Settlement and a part of the What Can We Do? Artist Grant program, presented by Asian American Arts Alliance (A4) and is supported by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Special thanks to Council Members Christopher Marte and Sandra Ung. ]
