Welcome to Project Pride presented by the Creative Roots team. We always celebrate Pride the entire month of June (and literally the whole year) but this year we want to show a different way to celebrate.
Pride for us is more than rainbow merchandise, fruity drinks, and drag shows (although we love all those things too) Pride is more like permission to be unapologetically authentic. no judgment, no fear, no anxiety, just self.
In these modern times with politics ramming fear down our throats, and waving threats like flags, we thought it was important to show the community what gay rights have looked like over the years. How our history has changed and evolved over time is an important stone in a paved path laid by our feisty loud and proud ancestors.
So wait. What is Project Pride?
This is a self appointed project we have dedicated to pride, community, and self. We took a deep dive into pride history, historical challenges, and equality celebrations. We are building an interactive 3D paper tree of life with history starting in the roots, big moments and timelines running up the trunk, and modern day allies, contributors, local supporters, and fun facts filling in the leaves. We will even have some empty leaves available for you to fill in missed facts or opportunities. We love learning from our community as much as we love teaching it. Along with our Tree of Life we will have an entire wall dedicated to our “What is Love” graffiti wall for YOU to tell us what love means to you! We want to fill the wall with all the reasons and meanings of love in all its forms. We also partnered with Jewels Fine art and pottery and will be painting kindness rocks for you to take and share along your journey.
Kindness rock, you say? Yes! Feel free to grab a rock, use the supplies provided and write or draw something kind or inspiring. You can keep your rock or you can leave it somewhere around the shop or around the city for someone else to find and make their day. Its an easy way to lift others spirits even just for a moment and we love that!
Okay but what else… welllll.
We will have live music, a self serve trail mix bar, local artist doing caricatures, and lots of merch on sale!
We are kicking off pride month on the first weekend of June so this is definitely something you don’t want to miss out on!

We are celebrating all day 10-6!
All entries will receive a bracelet, entry to the trail mix bar, and entry into the Project Pride Art room where you can leave your mark, read the tree, and create your kindness rock!
