About this Event
Join us at the 450K Street NW Busboys and Poets location for an evening of music, poetry, and community discussion. This event is about coming together to celebrate artistic expression and creativity. Project Poetic Justice is a new initiative at the DC J*il that works with talented residents at the DC J*il.
This event will feature original poems written by the residents at the J*il, as well as new musical compositions centered around their poetry. The program will begin with a panel discussion on the role of arts education in carceral settings.
Panelists for this event include: Valerie Coats, Shameka "Meek" Hayes, Collie "Shaka" Long, Rachel Russo Esq., and Dr. Jane Lewty (moderator).
Whether you're a fan of spoken word, live music, or want to learn more from local activisits, come by!
