About this Event

Welcome to Project Ignite 2026!

Come join us for 2 days of exciting hands-on training and an introduction to firefighting with the WFFD (Women Firefighters of Denver)! Participate in group exercises, perform hands-on firefighting skills, and take part in a Q&A session with the women of the Denver Fire Department.

Plug Catching

Info: An introduction in to connecting to fire hydrants (catching plugs). Participants will learn how to use a HUMAT to connect to a hydrant and understand why this is one of the most important skills on our job!

Intro to SCBA & Hose Maze

Info: An introduction to the SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus). Participants will be trying on a mask, wearing the SCBA, experiencing going on air, and following a hoseline out of a building.

Intro to CPAT

Info: An introduction to the Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) with a walkthrough of each station and tips/tricks from active Denver firefighters.

Forcible Entry

Info: Participants will learn about the tools we use for forced entry, as well as how to size up a door. Participants will also practice forcing doors alone, as well as with a partner.

Hose Handling

Info: We will be discussing the different hose loads & nozzles on the rigs. In addition, we will be practice handling hose lines, pulling lines from the rig, and different flowing techniques.
