Ryan Rasmussen is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of architecture, installation, and electronic media. In , Rasmussen constructs a large-scale sculptural framework of extruded aluminum, acrylic, projection mapping, interactive systems, and found materials. Rising approximately twenty-five feet from the atrium floor, the installation creates an ambiguity fundamental to the work: it becomes impossible to determine whether the structure is assembling upward or collapsing downward, whether it is being built or being taken apart.
Inspired by Vladimir Tatlin's unrealized Monument to the Third International, the installation considers the tension between digital aspirations and the limitations of the physical world, leaving visitors with a profound sense of our entanglement with technology.
