New OPIc + OPI data since 2024 — what should we do about our multilevel classrooms? Kicking off the 2026–27 LARC series.
About this Event

Description:

Every fall, someone says some version of "my students are all over the place." Fair complaint. But ask yourself: would you rather teach a full, multilevel class that guarantees you a section next semester — or gatekeep enrollment down to a tidy level, and risk a class so small the administration starts eyeing your program's funding?

In 2024, we spent a LARC session working through four years of that data. Now we're back with two more years — plus OPI scores for the first time — to see what's actually changed.

What we built
In 2024, we introduced OPIc diagnostic grids as a new way to track proficiency data. Working through 2021–2024 results, we learned two things: our classrooms will always be multilevel, and a lot of our students need help in the same areas.

What's new this year
We've since gained access to the OPIs that majors (and minors) take in their capstone classes — and this year, for the first time, we're folding that data into the mix. Last year, we also started administering OPIcs and WPTs for all challenge exams, giving us a much fuller picture of where students actually land.

What we'll do with it
At this session, we'll dig into two years of exam data — 2024 to 2026 — see how students are doing, and set goals for the year ahead. Those findings will shape the rest of the 2026–2027 LARC series, helping programs evaluate their curricula and better support student progress.

Come with your program's data questions — you'll leave with a few concrete goals to bring back to your department.

Mark your calendars for the rest of this year's series:
