Productive Conflict: Turning Tension into Teamwork

Conflict is inevitable. When strong values, high emotions, staffing pressures, and person-centered decisions intersect, tension can either divide teams — or strengthen them.

This interactive 3-hour workshop equips leaders with practical tools to transform workplace conflict into productive, mission-aligned dialogue.

Participants will explore how their DiSC® Workplace style influences how they approach conflict. Using style awareness as a foundation, leaders will learn how to recognize behavioral triggers, reduce misinterpretations, and adapt their communication to work more effectively across differences.

The workshop also introduces two powerful conflict resolution frameworks:

Crucial Conversations – A model for holding high-stakes conversations while maintaining psychological safety, mutual respect, and shared purpose.

Restorative Practices – A structured approach to repairing harm, rebuilding trust, and restoring working relationships when conflict has caused relational damage.

Through hands-on activities, real-world scenarios, structured role plays, and peer coaching, participants will practice selecting the right conflict approach for the situation — whether the issue stems from style differences, breakdowns in safety, or damaged relationships.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify how their DiSC style shows up under stress and in conflict.
  • Recognize when a conflict is a style difference versus a safety issue or relational harm.
  • Determine destructive behaviors vs. constructive behaviors.
  • Apply the principles of Crucial Conversations to navigate high-stakes dialogue.
  • Use restorative questions to repair trust and rebuild collaboration
