About this Event
By popuplar demand we have decided to have this show running for the whole duration of the Black History Month.
Cornelius Browne, known for his monochrome art, has dedicated this exhibition, "Trauma in Black Bodies" to offering emotional healing through his powerful artistic expressions. With a childhood marked by profound adversity, his journey through art has become a source of solace and empowerment, symbolising the resilience of black identity. "Trauma in Black Bodies" is designed as a nurturing environment and an intervention to aid black communities in overcoming the lasting impact of their collective history and daily lived experiences. Encompassing themes of enslavement, colonialism, racism, and prejudice. In addition to showcasing his monochrome art, the exhibition offers therapeutic art workshops, psychoeducation on trauma, and Black History as therapeutic practice.
Cornelius Browne's inspirational journey, rooted in his spirituality and faith, has led him to use his art as a catalyst for healing and recovery, with a particular focus on those battling mental health and traumatic experiences. His current exhibition is a testament to the transformative power of art in addressing and processing the impact of micro and macro aggression within the African Caribbean community.
