Brigitte of Beekaymakes is a sustainable textile designer-maker, specialising in handwoven textiles. She has a passion for working with natural fibres, especially bast fibres like nettle and flax, which have a long and rich history in textile production. She holds an MA in textiles and has been featured on BBC ONE for her innovative work with nettles.
Brigitte also offers workshops where participants can learn how to process bast fibres. Flax workshops cover the steps of processing flax into fibres by breaking, scutching, and hackling the flax straw. Each participant can take home a small length of line flax fibre that they have processed themselves.
By joining Brigitte’s workshops, you will immerse yourself in the ancient craft of making textiles from flax, which has been at the heart of human culture and history for 30000 years. You will also discover how bast fibres can be part of sustainable textile arts and crafts.
Non Member Cost £40
(Materials provided, those with respiratory issues may need to wear a mask as the process is dusty)
