Private Pottery Wheel Lesson (1-on-1 Studio Experience)

This 90-minute one-on-one session offers a focused introduction to wheel throwing in an intimate, relaxed setting. Whether you’re completely new to clay or looking to deepen your skills, the lesson is tailored to your pace, interests, and experience level.

You’ll learn the essential foundations of pottery at the wheel—how to center clay, shape forms, and understand the quiet rhythm that makes working with clay both challenging and deeply satisfying. With personal guidance throughout the session, you’ll have the space to slow down, experiment, and discover the process in a supportive environment.Private lessons allow for focused guidance and a pace that works for you. Some students come simply to try something new, others arrive with specific skills they want to develop. Both are welcome here.

You may keep one finished piece from each lesson. Work will be professionally trimmed, glazed, and fired for you. Pieces will be ready to pickup in 4–6 weeks... You'll recieve an email.

This session takes place in a small, welcoming home studio and includes all materials, tools, clay, and firing.

Come prepared to get a little muddy and leave with a deeper appreciation for the process of making something with your hands.

Jazmin Swanson is a Brooklyn-based ceramic artist and educator with a decade of teaching experience. She previously founded and operated a community pottery studio with sixteen wheels and hundreds of students in Downtown San Diego before shifting toward a more intimate teaching model focused on connection, creativity, and the simple joy of working with clay. Her teaching style blends technical guidance with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where students feel comfortable experimenting, learning, and enjoying the process.

Info: The first 15 minutes of class are spent getting to know you and your skill level. If you are a beginner, this time will be spent familiarizing you with the tools, watching a complete demonstration and asking basic questions. If you are more practiced, we will have a conversation about where you are in your practice, whatsoever you're getting stuck on, and what we can do to fix the issues and expand your skills. The next full hour of class is spent with you, hands on, working with the clay with expert direction right by your side! the last 15 minutes of class is spent cleaning up, filling out glaze slips, and getting to ant remaining questions.
