Kirtan singer Akari, who is actively sharing her music and teachings of yoga all over the world, grew up studying music and she plays multiple instruments professionally.
In private lessons, she teaches you what you would like to learn, including vocal, guitar, harmonium and percussion.
You don't have to be a musician - rather willing to explore your musical expressions, opening your voice, learn to project the depth of your emotions and feelings into your voice, explore different techniques of singing and instruments, learn new songs together, learn how to improvise singing, learn new techniques of playing harmonium / guitar / drum, learn how to lead Kirtan with accessible musical skills to create dynamics in sounds.

✨ Voice lessons
Voice comes from the whole of yourself and Akari is passionate about inspiring you to sing with ease, confidence, freedom and integrity with different parts of yourself.
Voice lessons focus on your interests and wishes, such as how to sing and voice with ease and freedom, how to use your whole body to produce your voice, how to practice basic vocal exercises, how to arrange and improvise your voice, etc.
In addition to Kirtan and mantra songs, we can also introduce medicine songs and Sanskrit and Bengali Bhakti songs from India.
No need to be a singer or musical in order to sign up.
✨ Harmonium/Guitar lessons
Akari has experience of classical piano for more than a decade professionally and she can teach you all about keys, from basic playing techniques to practicing songs that interest you.
Beginners are most welcome, you will be able to play and lead a song after the class.
Experienced players are most welcome as well for arrangement of songs or refining the skills.
In both harmonium and guitar lessons, we will see how to build up a Kirtan song with accessible arrangement skills.
Please bring your own instrument.
✨ Percussion such as djembe
Akari is trained in African drums (djembe etc.) and she was actually a percussionist in the early days of kirtan. In percussion lessons, we will not only teach you the basics of rhythms, but also introduce tips for holding the sound field with percussion and how to build up the dynamics during Kirtan. Both beginners and experienced percussionists are welcome.
Please bring your own instrument.
? AKARI TAMURA
Originally from Japan, for the last decade she lives in “crystal island” Koh Phangan (Thailand) and always follows her devotional heart - which often brings her to India. Akari is a passionate yoga teacher, highly experienced kirtan leader since 2013, multi-instrumentalist, author of “Mantra song book” for Kirtan leaders and a professional vocal coach. She grew up studying music and there is no day without music since then. Almost 20 years Akari has devoted her study in traditional and modern yoga systems and especially has been passionate with vedic scriptures.
Akari is well known for her pure devotional heart, connection to the Divine and highly professional approach to truly inspire and open gifts of each and every student from all backgrounds by incorporating the teachings of Bhakti Yoga and creating a sacred space for students both outer/physical and inner/spiritual journey bringing pure joy and opening your heart to vibrate the song of Love.
