PRISM: A Queer Artist Salon - Fourth Thursdays in Tacoma
About this Event
PRISM: A Queer Artist Salon is a monthly gathering for LGBTQIA2S+ artists, makers, creatives, and creatively curious folks to spend time making art, meeting other creatives, and building community.
Held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:00–8:00 PM at the Queer Stability Foundation offices in downtown Tacoma, PRISM is designed to be relaxed, welcoming, and low-pressure.
Bring a project you’re already working on, your favorite art supplies, or something new you’ve been wanting to try. Painting, drawing, fiber arts, collage, writing, illustration, sewing, mixed media, and other creative practices are all welcome.
Don’t have a project or supplies? Come anyway. We’ll have a selection of shared art supplies available onsite for anyone who wants to experiment, create, or simply spend some time being creative in community.
This is not a formal class, and there is no expectation that you finish anything. Come work on what interests you, talk with other artists, ask for feedback if you want it, share ideas, or simply enjoy being around other creative people.
Featured Artist Wall
Each month, PRISM will also feature the work of a local LGBTQIA2S+ artist on our Featured Artist Wall at Queer Stability Foundation.
Featured artists will have an opportunity to display a piece of their work, share their creative story and connect with community.
Our goal is to create more opportunities for queer artists to be seen, supported, connected, and celebrated.
Admission
Suggested admission is $10 per person.
We want cost to never be the reason someone cannot participate, so sliding-scale and free tickets are also available. Choose the ticket option that works for you, no explanation needed.
You may also choose a Sponsor an Artist ticket to help support shared supplies and keep free and reduced-cost attendance available to community members.
Who’s Welcome?
LGBTQIA2S+ people and allies are welcome.
Artists of every skill and experience level are encouraged to attend. You do not need a portfolio, formal art training, or even need to consider yourself an “artist.” If you enjoy making, creating, experimenting, or being around creative people, you belong here.

6:00–8:00 PM
Please plan to arrive between 5:45 and 6:15 PM.
If you expect to arrive after 6:15 PM, please let us know in advance so we can plan to have someone available at the main entrance to greet you and help you into the building.

What to Bring
Bring your current project, your own art supplies, or simply bring yourself. Shared supplies will be available onsite for those who need or want to use them.
You're also welcome to bring a food item to share with the group. Some snacks and non alcoholic beverages provided.
