Printmaking workshops for young people (Aged 13-17)

Create your own mini print portfolio this summer. Each week, learn a new printmaking process.
IMPORTANT: Week 4 is only available to those who have attended the other workshops, as participants will be using the skills they have learned in the previous sessions.
Week 1– 23.07.26 Monoprinting
Monoprinting is a type of printmaking which only produces a single print, as opposed to multiple consistent prints. It’s great way to achieve quick results and unique marks that will make any portfolio stand out.
In this session we will use natural materials to push the limits of what can be achieved, while discussing how these results can be used in a variety of ways to improve and diversify your work.
Week 2 – 30.07.26 Drypoint
Drypoint is an intaglio process, which is a printmaking process where the marks are carved into a surface.
By scratching into the surface of a material, you can create an impression of the marks using specific printing inks, dampened paper and then wiping the surface.
This process is a great way to achieve traditional looking results without chemicals or costs associated with etching and drypoint on hard plastics or metals.
In this session we will be using repurposed tetra packs, to explore what can be achieved through this accessible and fun medium.

Week 3 – 06.08.26 Collagraph
Collagraph is a relief process, where textures and layers of materials are stuck to a flat “Plate” surface and ink is applied to the raised areas to create your image.
This process is a fun way to use unusual materials and craft techniques, to develop an almost sculptural surface that produces surprising and exciting prints.

Week 4 – 13.08.26 Experimentation – combining processes
In the final session we will explore how we can use each of the different processes learned in previous sessions to achieve striking results.
Combining lino printing, monoprinting, drypoint etching and collagraph to make unique artworks that demonstrate your broad experience and offers the chance to experiment and explore how to use your new skills in interesting ways.
Individual sessions can be booked for the first three sessions.

Wythnos 1 – 23.07.26 Monobrintio
Mae monobrintio’n dechneg ar gyfer gwneud printiau sy’n cynhyrchu un print yn unig, yn hytrach na sawl print cyson. Mae’n ffordd wych o gyflawni canlyniadau cyflym a marciau unigryw a fydd yn helpu unrhyw bortffolio i ddenu sylw.
Yn y sesiwn hon, byddwn yn defnyddio deunyddiau naturiol i estyn terfynau’r hyn y gellir ei gyflawni, yn ogystal â thrafod sut gellir defnyddio’r canlyniadau hyn mewn amrywiaeth o ffyrdd i wella ac amrywio eich gwaith.
Wythnos 2 – 30.07.26 Sychbwynt
Sychbwynt (drypoint) yw proses gwneud printiau intaglio lle mae’r marciau’n cael eu cerfio i mewn i arwyneb.
Drwy grafu arwyneb deunydd, gallwch greu argraff o’r marciau gan ddefnyddio inciau printio penodol a phapur llaith cyn sychu’r arwyneb.
Mae’r broses hon yn ffordd wych o gyflawni canlyniadau ymddangosiadol draddodiadol heb y cemegau na’r costau cysylltiedig ag ysgythru a thechneg sychbwynt ar blastigau caled neu fetelau.
Yn y sesiwn hon, byddwn yn defnyddio deunyddiau Tetra Pak i archwilio’r hyn y gellir ei gyflawni drwy’r cyfrwng hygyrch a difyr hwn.
Wythnos 3 – 06.08.26 Colagraff
Mae colagraff yn broses gerfweddol, lle glynir gweadau a haenau deunyddiau wrth arwyneb “plât” ac ychwanegir inc at yr ardaloedd uchel i greu eich delwedd.
Mae’r broses hon yn ffordd ddifyr o ddefnyddio deunyddiau a thechnegau crefft anarferol, i ddatblygu arwyneb tebyg i gerflun sy’n cynhyrchu printiau annisgwyl a chyffrous.

Wythnos 4 – 13.08.26 Arbrofi – cyfuno prosesau
Yn y sesiwn olaf byddwn yn archwilio sut gallwn ddefnyddio pob un o’r gwahanol brosesau a ddysgwyd mewn sesiynau blaenorol i gyflawni canlyniadau trawiadol.
Byddwch yn cyfuno argraffu â leino, monobrintio, ysgythru sychbwynt a cholagraff i wneud gwaith celf unigryw sy’n dangos eich profiad eang ac yn cynnig y cyfle i arbrofi ac archwilio sut i ddefnyddio eich sgiliau newydd mewn ffyrdd diddorol.
Gellir trefnu sesiynau unigol ar gyfer y tair sesiwn gyntaf.
PWYSIG: Bydd wythnos 4 ar gael i’r rhai hynny sydd wedi cymryd rhan yn y gweithdai eraill yn unig, gan y bydd cyfranogwyr yn defnyddio’r sgiliau a ddysgwyd ganddynt yn y sesiynau blaenorol.
