About this Event
Discover the historic Intaglio print process without using ink!
This one-hour, hands-on workshop with Ben Topping, printmaker and Art School Fellow, will introduce you to traditional printmaking without using ink. Known as 'blind printing', the process results in a fine debossed image imprinted on the paper.
During the workshop, which takes place in the Art School's renowned Print Room, you will have a go at pressing your artwork onto paper using our traditional printing press, and leave with beautiful works to take home with you.
All materials will be provided, but if you wish to bring in items you would like to arrange on your print, please do. These must not exceed 2-3mm - materials that work well include cardboard and corrugated cardboard, string, patterned fabric and Tetra Pak. You could also bring pressed flowers and natural items.
To cover our running costs, we are charging a small fee of £9 (+Eventbrite booking fees) to attend the workshop. Advanced booking is essential.
The workshop is for adults only (18+).
Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment!
If you are interested in learning more about printmaking using the Intaglio print process, you may enjoy our Etching Fundamentals 5-day course (29 June - 3 July 2026), where participants will learn hard ground, soft ground, aquatint and steel plate colour printing.
See our Summer School collection of courses here >
Please note: in accordance with Eventbrite's Terms of Service, Eventbrite's fees are non-refundable. Any refunds made for the Printmaking workshop will have Eventbrite's fees deducted, unless we cancel the event.
