About this Event

This MORNING class is for both beginners and for experienced printmakers who want to work independently on projects, with individual guidance from the teacher. Printmaking techniques are taught when a project requires it, and will be taught to individuals or groups, as required. In this class there is much value in the learning that occurs within the group dynamic and the communal workshop environment.

N.B. Parking is always tricky for the Wednesday morning class – it can be easier to get dropped off/picked up.

Please bring all your own supplies, It is advisable to bring an art kit with you including the usual suspects: pens (including black sharpie and fine line pens over 1mm - useful for drawing) pencils, a craft knife, scissors, glue stick along with any printmaking tools you like to use frequently. Paper for trials - Bockingford Pads in cartridge and watercolour (for intaglio) weight are useful.

Health and Safety Gear: Apron, gloves (thin disposable ones are useful for inking up and ordinary kitchen sink gloves are useful for cleaning surfaces/screens etc), closed in shoes.

Imagery/ideas – maybe you have a visual diary, a concept or some photos on your phone (for example). It is advisable to have a starting point or some idea of what you might want to explore beforehand because class time goes quickly.

Petty cash for items you may buy from art school/ photocopying costs etc

Good Suppliers for printmaking gear: Gordon Harris for Fabriano and Tiepolo heavyweight print papers //Aotearoa Art Supplies https://aotearoaartsupplies.co.nz (Yoshiharu carving tools, Akua inks etc) // Office Max (for white/trans and black oil-based inks // National Art Supplies // CCG Industries (screenprint inks – or you can substitute screenprint ink with acrylic paint which you add a screen printing medium to, which retards the drying time.

We do stock and on sell Fabriano and Tiepolo heavy weight print papers. Bring petty cash for photocopying costs.

The Art school Print Lab has a supply of other oil-based colours you are welcome to use)
