About this Event
For Ages 18+ – This course explores three distinctive printmaking techniques, dedicating multiple weeks to each process: Risograph, Screen Printing, and Linocut. Students will focus on creating printed editions while discovering the technical intricacies of each method. Printmaking, at its core, involves the creation of a matrix, whether it be a wood block, litho stone, etching plate, silkscreen, riso master, or more. This matrix becomes the vessel as ink is applied and then transferred from the design onto paper or fabric, offering the unique ability to produce multiple copies and editions. Throughout the course, we will place special emphasis on the technical aspects of designing and printing with the Risograph, Screen Printing, and Linocut. Students will engage in supervised in-class work time to apply their newfound knowledge hands-on and explore and experiment with the techniques. The course is crafted to strike a balance between introducing technical processes and fostering personal expression. You'll have the opportunity to work on both guided exercises and independent projects. This class is great for all experience levels, whether you're a beginner eager to explore the fundamentals of printmaking or an experienced artist seeking to expand your skills. This course provides a supportive environment for growth and creative exploration in printmaking. Students will leave with confidence in creating using the Risograph, Screen Printing, and Linocut. You will not be required to bring supplies to the first class meeting. Recommended supply lists will be reviewed and distributed in the first class meeting, although many supplies will also be provided.
