About this Event
Join artist Kathryn Polk for a demonstration and small workshop that will introduce you to the incredible world of printmaking. Watch as she transfers a drawing to a special plastic plate that she will ink and print onto paper to create multiple artworks. She will also demonstrate how to add color through hand painting and stenciling. Each participant will get to try their hand at creating their own little print using this method with their own hand drawn designs, which can also be done at home!
Lithography is a form of printmaking developed around 200 years ago. In its original form, lithography reproduced images that had been drawn directly onto a finely grained, flat stone. Many artists continue to work with these lithographic stones, but over the years, various substitutes have been developed. One, in particular, is the polyester plate, which we will be using for this demo! The beauty of using polyester plates is that the processing is simpler, the costs are reduced, the use of toxic materials is eliminated, and they can be accommodated with less specialized equipment.
* All participants of the demo receive 10% off at our restaurant Véra. Discount can only be applied on the day of workshop (excludes alcohol).
