Printed Broadsides: Image & Word

A quiet beginnings workshop

Wednesday, March 4th | 5–8pm

Limited to 8 participants

Join us for an intentional evening of carving and printing.

In this three-hour workshop, participants will create a single broadside built around one carved linocut image and one carefully chosen word. This focused structure invites clarity and quiet attention — a creative pause at the edge of early spring.

Each participant will:

• Carve one image into a print block

• Select and set one word from the studio’s wood type collection

• Learn basic relief printing and editioning techniques

• Print an edition of 8–10 broadsides on high-quality printmaking paper

• Number and sign their prints

This workshop includes special access to the studio’s wood type collection — a rare opportunity to print by hand using traditional letterpress type.

We’ll discuss the history of broadsides, composition balance between image and text, and simple strategies for creating a final piece.

Participants will leave with:

• 8–10 finished prints

• A short broadside history

• The knowledge to continue exploring image and word in future work

All materials are included.
