Dive into the vibrant, hands-on world of gel printing—a playful and experimental printmaking technique full of texture, layering, and creative freedom.
Suitable for Adult Beginners and Those with Some Experience
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll explore the gel printing process from start to finish. With so many techniques to try, this session is your chance to fully immerse yourself, experiment boldly, and create truly meaningful, one-of-a-kind prints.
What You’ll Learn
Guided by Kat, you’ll be introduced to a wide range of gel printing techniques, including:
- Preparing and using a gel plate
- Pressing real plants to create natural impressions
- Image transfer using magazines and photographs
- Drawing directly onto the plate with Posca pens or charcoal
- Building layers with textures, stencils, and patterns
- Exploring different creative approaches to composition and printmaking
You’ll experiment with multiple methods to discover what excites you most, while developing your own unique style.
Creative Freedom
This workshop is all about choice and exploration. Whether you prefer delicate botanical prints or bold layered textures, you’ll have the freedom to:
- Experiment with a variety of materials and techniques
- Combine different processes to create depth and interest
- Produce a collection of your own A5 prints to take home

All materials are provided, including:
- Gel plates and brayers
- Paints and inks
- Natural materials (plants, leaves, etc.)
- Magazines and image resources
- Drawing tools (Posca pens, charcoal)
- Stencils and texture tools

About Kat
Kat is a self taught artist, who embarked on an exhilarating art adventure during the lockdown period. I'm constantly learning and experimenting with new materials, techniques and styles, always pushing the boundaries of my artistic abilities and taking inspiration from the world around me. I aim to capture the beauty and tranquillity of nature in my artwork and work in a range of mediums including watercolour and print.
