Print & Stitch: Developing Textile Artwork

In this intermediate-level workshop, participants will explore the creative crossover between print and stitch. Working with two A3 screens, each person will design and print onto a piece of natural fabric using stencil-based screen printing techniques.

Participants will begin by creating paper stencils to develop layered imagery, exploring colour, texture, and composition through multiple prints. Once their printed fabrics are complete, they will build texture, add highlights, or reconstruct their prints into new compositions using hand embroidery and appliqué.

The session encourages experimentation and personal expression, with space for participants to build on imagery or themes from their own creative practice. Each participant will design, print, and plan a textile art piece that can be further developed beyond the workshop.

Artist bio:
Slow Hands, also known as Ria, is a Nottingham based textile artist. Her work combines screen printing and embroidery to produce unique wall hangings and textile art that reflect her appreciation for slow, intentional artistry and the beauty of handcrafted textiles. After many years of working as a print technician, Ria now operates a small studio from home selling handmade textile art and painted pieces.

As materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable.
