Primary Languages: Effective Subject Leadership Programme
About this Event
This 2-day leadership programme has been designed to support colleagues throughout the year with one initial face to face day, followed by 3 online sessions. Through reflection activities, delegates will co-construct the content of the online modules to ensure they truly meet their needs. Participants will be expected to carry out some action research between sessions and feedback to the group.
During the first day, colleagues will reflect on their current practice and develop a renewed confidence in leading Languages. They will focus on strategic subject leadership, including curriculum planning, the pillars of progression and supporting colleagues. Throughout the online modules, the emphasis will be put on active learning. Possible themes include, and are not limited to, intercultural understanding, raising the visibility of languages, phonics, curriculum audit, ideas for EYFS/KS1, promoting writing.
The online sessions will take place on Zoom, 1.00 to 3.00pm, on the dates below. Participants will receive the joining links after day 1.

This training is ideal for new or existing subject leaders wanting to share ideas, plan strategically and lead their subject with confidence.
Outcomes
Delegates will:
- review their current practice and identify next steps;
- review the effectiveness of their curriculum in light of their school context and for Ofsted readiness;
- gain ideas to support and develop colleagues;
- explore strategies to develop children as linguists;
- gain a range of practical, active learning strategies for effective language learning;
- network and share ideas with like-minded colleagues.
Your trainer – Stéphanie Puisségur
Stéphanie is a freelance education consultant and translator. A native French speaker, she is also fluent in Spanish. She trained as a languages teacher before working for over 20 years as a school improvement consultant in a large local authority. Throughout her career, she has delivered training on many aspects of teaching and learning but her main specialisms are languages, intercultural understanding, EAL pedagogy and vocabulary development.
