Each year at the start of summer, rainbows start popping up everywhere, indicating the beginning of Pride Season. The Cinémathèque joins the festivities with two double bills dedicated to famous queer artists, James Whale and Patricia Highsmith, as well as screenings of two LGBTQ+ classics, ????? and ?? ????????? ??????????, which each paint a picture of their times and society as much as their central couple. The recent ?’????????à, finally, is a semi-autobiographical feature about the youth of trans Italian director Emanuele Crialese, who casts Penélope Cruz as the mother of a child uncertain about their gender identity.
