About this Event

Join Pride Point Network for our June Mixer at The Brass Rail, considered San Diego's first gay bar and one of Hillcrest's most iconic landmarks where history, community, and celebration have always gone hand in hand.

Originally opening its doors in the 1930s inside Downtown's historic Orpheum Theatre building, The Brass Rail began as a popular lunch spot for business professionals before becoming a top evening gathering place. In those early days, law enforcement would enter with flashlights demanding "All hands above the bar!" -- a stark reminder of how far our community has come and why spaces like this matter so deeply. Since relocating to Hillcrest in the early 1960s, The Brass Rail has continued to thrive as a landmark destination, drawing guests in with its lounge-style atmosphere and surroundings that feel both modern and rooted in rich post-Prohibition-era history.

For our June gathering, Pride Point Network will bring its signature intentional networking energy to this storied space. Attendees can connect with fellow professionals, creatives, and community leaders while enjoying The Brass Rail's artisanal cocktails and craft beers, available for purchase directly from the venue.

As a family owned and operated business for over 55 years, The Brass Rail has never stopped investing in community. That legacy of dedication and inclusion aligns perfectly with Pride Point Network's mission to cultivate meaningful connections within the LGBTQ+ professional community.

This month's mixer invites you to raise a glass at one of San Diego's most historic venues and engage in conversations that spark collaboration, opportunity, and community.

This event is 21+, valid ID required for entry.

Formed in 1974 as a sponsored program of The Center for Social Services, we produced the first Lesbian and Gay Parade in San Diego to celebrate the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion on New York’s Christopher Street. San Diego Pride incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1994, and today it continues to bring together the skills, talents, and visions of our diverse community through numerous programs.

We are excited to gather at The Brass Rail, a landmark destination in the heart of Hillcrest that seamlessly blends San Diego's queer history with a modern, welcoming atmosphere built for community. Rooted in resilience and decades of dedication to its people, The Brass Rail is more than a bar -- it is a living piece of LGBTQ+ history that continues to evolve while honoring everything that came before.

Considered San Diego's first gay bar, The Brass Rail first opened in the 1930s inside Downtown's historic Orpheum Theatre building before finding its permanent home on the corner of 5th and Robinson in Hillcrest. Guests are invited into a space where modern design meets post-Prohibition-era character, with details of brick, wood, corrugated wall treatments, and inviting indoor and outdoor patio areas that create an atmosphere as layered and rich as the history behind it. Whether it is an artisanal cocktail at the bar, a night out with friends, or a first introduction to one of San Diego's most storied venues, the experience is lively, authentic, and unmistakably welcoming.

As a family owned and operated business for over 55 years, The Brass Rail has remained deeply committed to the community it helped shape. More than a nightclub, it functions as one of San Diego's premier social experience destinations, hosting events, showcases, and gatherings that bring people together around great energy, great drinks, and a shared sense of belonging. That commitment to connection and inclusion makes The Brass Rail the perfect backdrop for intentional networking and community building.
