Pride Panel: Trans Pride and Dyke March in conversation

Join Shiv, Miggy (Trans Pride) and Stav ( Dyke March) in a conversation about the importance of Pride for communities. This will be an opportunity to hear about the history of each pride, challenges and their hopes for the future.

Panellists:

Shivani Dave (or Shiv) (they/them) - is a journalist and commentator, who regularly appears on broadcast media such as Sky News, the BBC. They have a weekend radio show on Virgin Radio Chilled and are the only non-binary broadcaster to have their own regular show on a national commercial radio station. Shiv spends a lot of time in community organising from ACT UP London to helping run the Pop-Up Dyke Bar events. Now they are working on bringing back London's Dyke March (since the last one was in 2013), which will take place on the 22nd of June 2024. To shake off all the stress of the world, Shiv is a gender bending drag king who performs under the name Chai La-They.

Stav B (she/her) is a dyke, artist, researcher, activist, DJ and entrepreneur. She lives and thrives in London, which, despite the gentrification and unequal distribution of wealth, is the best city in the world. Stav creates what she does not have; if Stav craves a space for her and her fellow queeros, she makes it happen, aiming to fill the gaps of events in the community. She has been around the scene for a long time now, watching and experiencing and contributing in the waves of change and evolution. She is happy to witness the glorious mushrooming of queer events, especially the dyke- focused ones.

London Dyke March is organised by an intersectional and trans-inclusive group that is creating an event based on love, solidarity, collaboration, politics and imagination. The last Dyke March in London was 2014, but from 2024 onwards, it will be an annual event. It will celebrate the dyke community in London and the UK and the important roles that they have always played and continue to play in society.
