The 2SLGBTQ+ community has never relied on corporate sponsorships, or police road blocks to march during pride month. Activists held the first Gay Pride Parade in New York City on June 28, 1970. Originally called the Christopher Street Liberation Day March, the event commemorated the first anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising—when a police raid on a Greenwich Village gay bar sparked six days of protests and clashes with law enforcement. Now, more than ever, the 2SLGBTQ+ community needs to march. Anti-Trans legislation is spreading across Canada and the US like a wildfire; and MMIWG2S funding is being cut at the federal level.
Please join us for a march on Saturday May 30th, from 11am-2pm, starting at Waverly Park. Event schedule and route TBA.
