Pride in the Sky 2025

Big Gay Hudson Valley in partnership with the Friends of the Walkway nonprofit organization and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will host the second annual Pride In The Sky community celebration on Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park.

This FREE all-ages, pet-friendly event will kickoff Pride season in the Hudson Valley with a nighttime event that will cover the breathtaking Walkway Over the Hudson in rainbows in more ways than one.

We ask all attendess to pre-register for a FREE ticket so that we know how many to anticipate; please consider making donation to help support the event expenses when doing so.

Big Gay Hudson Valley's Pride In The Sky will feature community festivals with vendors, LGBTQ+ pride groups, community organizations and more on both the Poughkeepsie and the Highland side of the Walkway.

Food and beverage will be available on both sides of the Walkway from New York State Parks vendors, and City Winery (Dutchess side) and Bad Seed Hard Cider (Ulster side) will be offering adult libations in the designated beverage gardens.

We encourage all attendees to travel the full length of the Walkway (1.2 miles) to experience the gatherings on both sides of the Hudson River.

Just before sunset, two groups of flag marshals will step off from each side of the Walkway and parade two of the world’s largest Pride flags to the center of the Walkway.

A 16-foot wide, 500-foot long portion of Gilbert Baker’s will step off from the Dutchess County (east) side of the Walkway and a 16-foot wide, 125-foot long will step off from the Ulster County (west) side of the Walkway.

Both the Mid-Hudson Bridge and The Walkway's LED will be illuminated in Rainbow to show off our Pride. Join in and show up in your best illuminated look for this night time Pride celebration!

Local LGBTQ+ community groups will be set up interactive booths on both sides of the Walkway to share information about their organizations & Summer Pride activities happening throughout the area.

New Paltz-based live band The Minorikeys will be performing on the Highland side of the Walkway in the early evening with DJ Prephab spinning up a disco dance party all night long at the center of the bridge. Be sure to snap a photo and serve a look with Andramada and House of Drama as they strut their stuff on the Poughkeepsie side of the Walk(run)way.

As part of Pride In The Sky, the Walkway Over The Hudson and other partners will be offering a wide array of events all day on Saturday. You'll see these detailed below. Please register for each of these events indiviudally so we know how many to expect. If you'd like to also make a donation to support Pride In The Sky, you can do that by purchasing an additional Pride In The Sky Supporter or Donation ticket.

10am: Pride Fun Run on the Walkway Over The Hudson

10 am - 4pm: Tours of the Queer Water in Poughkeepsie's Waryas Park

1pm: Dockside Drag Story Time with Katarina Mirage in Poughkeepsie

4:30pm: Pet Pawrade Across the Walkway Over The Hudson (Highland to Walkway Center)

5pm - 7pm: BYOB Pride Cruise aboard the Queer Water from Waryas Park, Poughkeepsie (Ticketed Event)
