Pride in London 2022 - The Dancers

Schedule

Sat Jul 02 2022 at 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm

Location

Grosvenor Square, London, W1K 2, United Kingdom | London, EN

ALL THE PLACES ARE NOW TAKEN - anyone adding their name now will be added to the waiting list.
We have a place in this year's Pride march and will be dancing as usual.
If you change your mind (even if it's the night before) please contact Tony as he'll be able to give your place to someone else.
Tony is doing all the admin for it and sorting out wristbands.
Phil will be organising a couple of rehearsals beforehand and the music and dancing on the day itself.
We'll be joined by members of the UK Equality Dance Council this year.
?️‍? WHERE ?️‍?
We'll be meeting in the South East corner of Grosvenor Square W1K.
The Parade will start from Park Lane.
The best tubes to get there are Bond St and Green Park. (Marble Arch has limited capacity and will be very busy. Because of the Parade set-up it will be difficult to get to us from Hyde Park Corner).
Do allow extra time as the tubes and surrounding roads will be very busy.
Tony will be dressed in silver sequins and will be hard to miss. We will also have a small trolley with rainbow flags.
?️‍? WHEN ?️‍?
Try and arrive by 14:00 - especially if you want to go over the routines.
If you have not picked up your wristband by 14:30 you will not be joining us on the parade.
After you’ve collected your wristband you can join Phil and the music trolley and we’ll go over the line dances while we wait for our section of the parade to start.
If there are any problems then you can call Tony on 07754 184983 or Phil on 07747 612047 and one of The Dancers’ volunteers will try to help you. But we will be quite busy and cannot guarantee that we can help (or even hear the phone).
?️‍? DRESS CODE ?️‍?
There is no dress code ?
Colourful, sparkly, eye-catching are all encouraged.
Sunscreen is advised.
Most importantly smile, have fun, be yourself.
?️‍? THE PARADE ?️‍?
We will be dancing. We have some simple routines. Both are optional - just come and enjoy yourself.
We recommend that you, at the very least, bring a bottle of water.
Please don’t expect to be able to dump your bag on the music trolley.
There will be 50 of us and there isn’t room for 50 rucksacks.
Somebody has to push this thing and we have a lot of electronics on board for the sound system.
We'd also be really grateful for volunteers to push the trolley for a couple of songs.
Note that there may be a GoPro camera on the back of the trolley which will film the whole parade. The Dancers assume that if you are prepared to be in the parade then you are prepared to be on film. This is a public event, after all. This film is only uploaded to Facebook as publicity for next year’s event.
?️‍? COST ?️‍?
There is no charge this year for community groups.
In previous years I've held a small collection on the day to cover the cost of entry with any left over money going to the Albert Kennedy Trust to support young LGBT+ homeless people.
I won't be doing that this year but if you'd like to make a donation to AKT you can here https://www.akt.org.uk/Appeal/donate
?️‍? CODE OF CONDUCT ?️‍?
We have signed up to this - please abide by it
https://prideinlondon.org/code-of-conduct
Finally - please check this text and the event regularly, especially on the morning of the 2nd in case we have had to add any more information about goings on, on the day.
Happy Pride!
Phil and Tony x
