Join us on October 24, 2024 @ 6:00 PM for a special evening celebrating Pride in Construction, featuring two beloved organizations: EllisDon Construction and the Edmonton Queer History Project.

The evening kicks off with a tour of the Valley Line LRT, where we’ll hear stories about this remarkable project, which is the largest infrastructure project in Edmonton’s history. From there, we’ll take a walk through downtown, discovering key moments in Edmonton’s queer history along 105 St and Jasper Ave.

We’ll wrap up the night at one of the nearby restaurants, where we will have a chance to network and share your own stories in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate, connect, and make history together!

Edmonton Valley Line LRT

The largest infrastructure project in Edmonton’s history, the Valley Line LRT is a significant part of the City of Edmonton’s transportation plan and will cater to the demands of one of Canada's fastest growing cities. The proposed multi-phased, 27-kilometre urban route will ultimately create 25 new stops and 3 stations, serving an estimated 100,000 daily commuters. The line will run southeast to west from Mill Woods to Lewis Farms, crossing through Edmonton's downtown core.

Edmonton Queer History Project

Queer history is everywhere. Every place has a story to tell. Some stories are more visible and well known, while others have been hidden and kept silent due to fear, persecution, and prejudice. The Edmonton Queer History Project is designed to help tell our stories by documenting what queer life was like in our city over the past 50+ years. Most of these histories are undocumented or known only to a few members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two spirit and queer communities. Seldom are queer lives or culture included as part of our city’s official history, school curricula, or public discourse. We intend to help break this silence.

These are the stories and experiences of the people, places, and moments that have helped build and define our city. These are the stories of our friends, family members, city builders, lovers, activists, artists, and so many others. These are also the stories of queer life that have been hiding in plain view. You only needed to know where to look to find them. We have always been here. Sometimes silent. Other times loud. But always present.
